Antivirus Review – Which Antivirus Software Should You Use?

If you’re looking for an easy full-featured antivirus program to protect all your devices and online activities, there aren’t any better options than Avast Free Antivirus. Its malware detection rate was among the highest in our tests, and it also offers other features, such as a password manager. A file shredder and tune-up utility are also available. However, the program does eat up memory and cause slowdowns when scanning large files or running programs.

The paid versions of Avast are a bit more expensive, but they do offer some nice extras, such as parental controls and an excellent browser extension to help keep your privacy in check. Cloud storage is also a part of, which can be used to backup files or to create an emergency restore point. There are several security suites, ranging starting with the entry-level Antivirus Plus up to the most popular Total Security. There’s also a ransomware-specific protection and Sandboxes that can be used to test suspicious apps.

Kaspersky’s products are all essentially variations of the same program. This is a different approach from other antivirus programs that are premium. The major difference is that the more powerful suites include additional features, like a password manager, as well as an integrated VPN. They also provide support for more devices, including the basic subscription providing protection on one computer, and up to five at the top end of the spectrum.

Sophos Home AV is a great price for the money and the latest version was a success in our tests. It’s not as comprehensive as some of the competition, but its stripped-down interface is perfect for new users. If you want more functionality you can expand the home product to cover up 10 devices.
